If you are having any trouble recalling Mr. Gruber, I will remind you that he has been in the news these past two weeks in various video clips flaunting how the lack of transparency within the ObamaCare legislation coupled with the stupidity of the American voter allowed the Obama administration to successfully push through ObamaCare. Gruber seems to take great pride in being one of the key individuals who designed this American disaster. Indeed, he appears almost gleeful at how easily the American public was fooled. Something tells me that Hitler would have made this guy his chief executioner back in the day.
When she was Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi hailed Gruber’s work and used his economic analysis to explain to the American public how ObamaCare was a better deal financially than private sector insurance. However, after Gruber’ remarks were revealed, Ms. Pelosi suffered a total mental lapse and said that she does not know Gruber. Her spokesperson tried to smooth that disingenuous remark over by saying, “She does not know him, but that does not mean that she is not aware of his work.” Oh. In my experience, speaking in double negatives means someone is muddying up the truth. You can bet that Ms. Pelosi is well aware of Gruber’s work—from start to finish.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid referred to Jonathan Gruber as one of the most respected economists in the world. Allow me to translate that for you. I think he’s saying, “He is one of the few guys with credentials who was willing to lie for us—all the way through.” Apparently Reid is easily impressed by a man who can make stuff up to bolster whatever outcome is desired and give it credence by putting his “Professor of Economics” imprimatur on the cover page. I think a more objective analysis here would be that even an idiot and a paid manipulator can teach at M.I.T.
Now, am I going to defend the American voter against the remarks about being stupid? Well, the short answer is “No.” But having said that, let me qualify it by saying that I am not in disagreement with Gruber about the “being stupid” part. I simply disagree with him as to when “stupid” showed up. You see, the American voter is the one who gave us Reid and Pelosi’s leadership in the Congress and who offered up enough votes to put Barack Obama into the White House not once, but twice. That, in my opinion, is when the “stupid” occurred—the rest, including ObamaCare, is totally a consequence of that initial stupidity.
President Barack Obama has sung the praises of Jonathan Gruber many times over, and he has admitted to stealing some of his economic ideas along the way. After Gruber’s comment became public, Obama deceitfully referred to him as some adviser who never worked on our staff and used his bully pulpit to claim that Gruber had no insight into the workings or intentions behind ObamaCare. Of course, that claim becomes a bit silly when reports surface that Gruber was a fairly frequent visitor to the White House and President prior to the passage of the ObamaCare legislation. In fact, Gruber claims to have met with Obama on multiple occasions to discuss healthcare and the economics associated with it. But, as is always the case with Obama--he just heard about it.
Let us be clear on something here. About one-half of the qualified voters (both legal and illegal) are out of touch with the issues. They are drawn to gimmicks, fantasies, and explanations totally fabricated and crafted to capture their vote. The shame of it all is that these ill-informed constituents are even allowed to vote, because when they do, we end up with an outcome like the one we have today. Government-designed and mandated healthcare is about to totally eclipse the American medical industry and the well-being of all American citizens. It is a system that without a doubt will financially bankrupt the American middle class, and Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and Gruber cannot get over how they “hoodwinked” the American public into swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
Since the inception of this nation, we the people have made a lot of mistakes and we have been fooled on occasion, but we have recovered and returned to the basics of our beliefs. This time, the situation is different because those who are engineering these mistakes are also destroying the status quo at the same time. They are yelling “get off the ship!” as if we are on the sinking “Titanic” and placing us into lifeboats with holes—but we have no place left to go. The modus operandi of the Obama Administration is to create a sense of disaster around every issue and then use the urgency associated with it to move things in the direction they wish—and it happens over and over and over again.
I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: as comedian Ron White says, “You can’t fix stupid!” I think he is probably correct in that assessment, but let us hope there is some room to correct it. If America is to survive, we must stop this attack on our Constitution, our education system, and our healthcare. We, the voters, must do that if it is to get done. The open borders and illegal immigration coveted and pushed by the Left is nothing more than an effort to dumb-down and dilute the voter base in order sustain their power and control in government. By doing so, they guarantee that their efforts to transform America into something that the Founding Fathers would never recognize or condone is an ongoing process. The evidence is right before our eyes. Are we just too “stupid” to either see or to believe it? Mr. Gruber thinks so.
