If our media reported the facts, it would be very clear that conservatives want what most Americans want—border security first! Republicans are ready to act on this, but securing the border does not fit Obama’s plan. Oh sure, the President claims that he will address border security as soon as reforms are in place, but looking at his track record, are we to trust him or listen to the quote attributed to Hillary Clinton: You just can’t trust the motherf^#*?r? Last week, Liberals began beating their gums and passing out labels when the issue of reinforcing the border was raised. Oh, we cannot have a fence; it is offensive and sends the wrong message! Are you kidding me? These people are coming here illegally—openly violating our existing laws and you want to argue that a fence is seen as offensive? Well, let’s contact the banks and have those safes removed as surely the bank robbers may be offended. And what about our prisons—can you imagine how offended the inmates must be looking out through their bars and seeing those fences?
Let’s get real, people! Fences have a viable purpose and they do send a message. Some fences keep things in; others keep things out—that’s their purpose. Now, if one considers coming to America to gain citizenship through the legally established process, there are no fences. There may be some barriers which are a bit difficult, but they are not impossible. The White House has a fence around it and armed security personnel. If we don’t need a fence on our southern border because of the message it sends, then why do we need one around the White House? Frankly, I am offended that President Obama and his ilk will complain about the offensiveness of a fence while sitting safely behind one. But there you go. It’s not his neck on the block but ours as our nation gains more and more illegals each day.
Gaining citizenship in the USA is a difficult process as it should be. The point is that in applying for citizenship one should have to complete some process which not only measures desire for citizenship but tests the willingness to learn about and be assimilated into our culture. Citizenship is not offered so that one can bring their country and their culture with them and attempt to shove it down our throats. If that is the case, stay where you are and save us the pain. That said, I do not agree with the financial burden of becoming a citizen, however, which can be as much as $8,000 per individual. I have no doubt that we can thank our large, power-hungry government and the bureaucrats that populate it for that exorbitant fee. Citizenship should be about desire, dedication, demonstrated loyalty, and a willingness to assimilate into this culture. The financial burden to do it successfully should be minimal. We are not in the business of selling citizenship, are we?
The Left has dragged the issue of immigration and citizenship into the political arena. They see it as a plus for their party especially if they can keep the illegals here. They will cry for amnesty first, then for rights of citizenship in their efforts to stack the voter base. As with Global Warming and abortion, the Left is again changing the language to make the reality more palatable to the American public. Oh, they are not illegals—they are undocumented immigrants. Recently, Joe Biden said illegal aliens are already Americans simply because they want to be. This is nothing more than liberal hogwash shoved down our throat with the hope that we’ll buy it because it sounds compassionate!
Let us be clear on this situation. These unaccompanied children coming from Central American countries are not just walking across Mexico —they are being helped by drug smugglers. Let’s think about the “most transparent reasons” (that should make the President proud). Given the drug cartels’ efforts to smuggle drugs across our border, distracting our existing security measures by overloading them with children only helps to move a higher volume of drugs. President Obama is leveraging the chaos at the border to get Congress to see things his way. The daily influx of thousands of minors is a crisis that is safeguarded by the law prohibiting the immediate deportation of an illegal entering from a non-contiguous country. This law coupled with Obama’s laxity on enforcing other immigration laws has created a disaster and a disaster requires action right now! Remember former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s comment? “You never let a good crisis go to waste. . . it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” In that light, it becomes apparent that the children did not just show up here by accident. This is a contrived situation.
A word of caution. Do not draw conclusions on the basis of Obama’s words—do so on the basis of his actions. Watch and see what Obama does with his Executive Order and decide how much his actions actually resolve the existing chaos or provide relief. What reform is Obama really attempting to accomplish using this turmoil as rationalization? Obama is more than willing to circumvent our Congress and our laws once he finds the right rationale—and he believes that he has.
The President will continue this behavior as long as the people will allow it. The longer it continues, the worse it will get for the USA. This is not just an issue of illegal immigration, it is a health issue, a voter issue, and a financial burden; it is also an “over-running” of our culture by those not interest in being “legal citizens” but simply wanting to partake of the milk and honey of our land while waving the flag of their country and flipping us the bird. An on-going flood of people into our labor force may make more workers available, but it certainly will not raise the wages. There are also issues concerning the criminal element we are importing—the list of the consequences of immigration unchecked by boundaries or law goes on and on. Meanwhile, the Left rub their palms and slobber at the mouth while stacking the voter base such that the conservative side will be shut out of the political arena for decades. This is about Power and Greed—the rest is simply a lie.
There are only two issues regarding illegal immigration. First and foremost, the borders must be secured—not by claims but by effective security measures. Second, we must determine what to do with those who are already here. For Obama, the requirements are reversed. He wants reforms and then security. Obama is more focused on the reform not so much because he is so concerned about these illegals and their needs but more because he sees it as yet another way to fundamentally change America at the voting booth. Securing the border first makes sense just like fixing a leak in the roof makes sense before you redecorate inside your house. Secure the border first and the bigger the fence, the better!!
