No doubt many who hold conservative beliefs find themselves tiring under the constant onslaught. Some might decide that it is easier to just give up and go along with the flow—which would be a huge mistake. In today’s world, it is not simply a matter of a difference of opinion about how something should be accomplished—that might have been the case back when America was a nation of people holding common core beliefs. No, those times are long gone.
Today those on the Left can no longer be characterized as merely having a liberal mindset content to advance more “tax and spend” policies. The Democrat Party of our parents’ generation is long since dead. The Left today is made up of a progressive mentality that is focused tightly on growing central government as provider—and watchdog—of a socialist ideology. To lie down and give up because we are being attacked is to give into weariness, to say, I had rather live this way than continually fight. Given the many fronts of the assault, this is understandable.
Look at what is happening around you across this nation. In St. Louis, people are being paid to engage in public demonstrations against Walmart in an effort to make you believe that they are the employees themselves. In Houston, a mayor and city council are trampling the First Amendment by demanding to screen the sermons of local pastors to see what they are preaching concerning homosexuality and gender identity. You are being told that open borders is a good thing for the USA—that having a large population of uneducated, illegal immigrants will (inexplicably) be good for an economy that is already stagnant and lacking sufficient jobs for the people already here. Christianity is being assailed in the Middle East and your own president has declared that the USA is no longer a “Christian Nation,” despite being founded as one.
President Barack Obama is telling you that the most precious document this nation holds—the Constitution—is nothing more than an outdated, outmoded, useless piece of paper that is hampering his ability to govern. That seems an extremely ignorant conclusion for a Magna Cum Laude grad of Harvard Law, considering the Constitution was originally created for the exact purpose of protecting the people of this country from the very politicians who would usurp their freedom. With the help of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Obama has obstructed the legislative branch of our government, and now continually blames House Republicans for the resulting gridlock. Instead, he attempts to convince you that this gridlock is simply the rationale for his unfettered use of Executive action. Our nation has never been closer to tyranny.
Our national debt has nearly doubled since Obama took office, and all we hear from him is how America must continue to invest in the future. By invest he evidently means continue to spend like a drunken sailor while totally ignoring the insurmountable debt that is piling up. This is a crippling burden to our children—a burden which will ultimately destroy the power and influence of this nation in the future. For too long, politicians have robbed Peter to pay Paul while telling Peter that things will be fine once he has his money back. The truth of the matter is that Peter will never see his money again—he’s being played the fool.
Our medical industry is currently in a state of disarray and decline as a result of ObamaCare. We are being told that things will get better, but overwhelmingly indications are that this is not the case. Premiums are going up. Deductibles are going up. Doctors and nurses are electing to pursue professions outside the medical field due to government interference. Private sector insurance is headed down the drain and, as a result, ObamaCare, i.e., single payer, government health insurance will be the way of the future—not by accident, but by design.
Your government has taken your ability to choose your healthcare options and tossed it out the window. Where does this intrusion into your personal life stop? When does the day come that government looks at your bank accounts and determines that you are disproportionately wealthy compared to the masses? When do they simply start taking your money, outside of any tax authority or agency, so that it can be redistributed as they see fit? “Oh,” you say, “That can’t happen, we have laws!” Well, just watch! Any government powerful enough to ignore the “will of the people” over healthcare can and will do anything that it wants any time that it wants.
We have Secretary of State John Kerry giving speeches decrying the looming disaster of climate change. He has no scientific proof, but grounds his urgency in a “what if” catastrophic scenario, and that is all that is needed—panic the public and then let the government come in to save the day.
Let us apply some common sense thinking here. Anytime anyone suggests that something you are doing is contributing to a foreseeable disaster and then absurdly demands that you pay a fee to continue to do it is not concerned with a coming apocalypse. They are more interested in finding an additional revenue stream outside the tax structure. This is the essence of the Cap & Trade legislation—create a doom and gloom rationale with climate change as the backdrop, then start selling carbon credits to everyone on the basis of their carbon footprint. It’s all about money. If it were not about the money, the President would have issued an Executive Order on coal-fire electricity plants and banned all future coaling mining in this country. Instead, he simply made the use of coal financially impractical so that it could be harvested and sold to China, with political cronies like George Soros lining their pockets with money. In the end, the coal still gets burned and the carbon is released—albeit by someone else. Mr. Kerry is just another willing puppet in this exercise to create a rationale for the government to wrest control over another aspect of your life.
These are just a few things that we should be mulling over as we conservatives decide whether we have any fight left in us for the future. If we do not stand up, we are guaranteed that the world around us will change, drastically and not for the better. If we value the future of our children, then we have no other recourse but to fight to the last one standing to sustain this nation in a manner that reflects its rich heritage and honors the desires of its people.
