Before he left on holiday, President Obama issued a threat to the incoming Republican-dominated Congress stating that he wouldn’t hesitate to use his power of the pen if they do not behave legislatively in a manner in which he approves. Never mind the American people—it is all about him! Taking that threat a step further now, news has just been released that Mr. Obama will spend a massive amount of taxpayer money to tool around the country in Air Force One and campaign on the use of the executive order when running the government. Once again, Obama will be out playing to the low-information crowd and doing everything he can to create yet another layer of divisiveness in the nation. With leadership like this in the White House, America is under threat 24-hours a day. The last day of his term of office cannot come too soon or, worse yet, it might not come at all.
There is one upside to the current situation. The left-leaning, ultra liberal mainstream media is no longer in a position to sit cooing and gushing over how Utopian things will be with the Democrats in control. Instead, they will be ignoring everything but the smallest of mistakes made by the Republicans. Well, that did not take long. The Grand Old Party immediately proceeded to put John Boehner right back into the Speaker of the House position, indicating that the wishes expressed by the voters in the November 2014 elections will go completely unheeded in this next Congressional term. Boehner is simply “on loan” from the Democrat Party to fill in the position of Speaker for the Republicans. He has never had a conservative thought in his life and he appears to be a spineless wimp when it comes to defending the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, or The Rule of Law. As Ned Beatty said it in the movie Shooter, “They like us up there, Boy!”
With Boehner in the House and that feckless, dysfunctional Mitch McConnell calling the shots as the Senate Majority Leader, the American public can be assured that this Congress will accomplish even less than the preceding one. Perhaps a small consolation is that we will not see a lot of glossy photos of Obama, McConnell, and Boehner attempting to “work together” on anything of consequence. Why? Two reasons: 1) Obama will address items of consequence using his Executive Order Pen, and 2) although Messrs. Boehner and McConnell are dim bulbs, they not quite that stupid. Yet.
The American people will see a bit of grandstanding by some of the new Congressional inductees, as they go through motions of showing they are trying to carry out the wishes of the folks back home. This will be done with the approval of Boehner and McConnell, but nothing will come of it. You see, if we are to do anything about Obamacare and illegal immigration, we must have elected officials who care more about America than they do about themselves or their political survival. We certainly do not have that, nor do we have leadership in place in either chamber of the Congress that will allow measures to be taken outside the boundaries they set.
The $1,014 trillion budget passed in the beginning of December gave Mr. Obama the money he needed for ObamaCare implementation and the don’t-call-it-amnesty immigration plan. On top of that, there are plenty more dollars to be spent at Obama’s discretion—no one is going to change that fact and few if any will even challenge it. The American public was again duped with the usual fear-mongering about shutting down the government, a specter which the Republicans run from now almost as quickly as they do from the race card. In truth, conservative voters could not have done more damage if they had voted the Democrat side of the ballot.
No doubt the year 2015 and the upcoming election process for 2016 will be pivotal for the future of the Republican Party. A large percentage of conservative voters in the nation are waiting to see if this Congress does the job it was sent to Washington to do—stop Obama and his lawlessness! If that does not happen, the impact will soon be evident as the ranks of registered members of the Republican Party begins to shrink rapidly. Some will “leave,” although their state mandates they are registered Republican or Democrat to vote. Boehner and McConnell can say what they want and be as blind as they choose, but a line has been drawn in the sand. Those two idiots can have the historic legacy of being “in charge” when the ship went down. Given that the destruction of the Republican Party is high on the agenda of Barack Obama, there will be much to celebrate in Democrat ranks.
If the truth be known, both sides of the aisle in Congress are anxiously waiting for the paint to dry. My point here is to say that the spending bill has been passed. Obamacare and Immigration are out of hock, and all that is left is for the American people to get their minds wrapped around something else as a distraction. With Obama in office, there is no end to potential distractions—they arrive like scheduled trains. Many things have a “curing time” and that is the clock which must run out here. Once we are so deep in both the issues of Obamacare and illegal immigration, there will be no turning around—there will be no place of return. Once the healthcare system and the insurance industry have been forced through a series of changes, all semblance of the past will be lost, leaving any future change only one alternative: nationalized healthcare totally run by the government. The same holds true on illegal immigrants—once these people are cut loose on our nation and others follow, the task of rounding them up will not be feasible. Congress and Obama cannot wait for the “cure.”
So, welcome to 2015—a year we conservatives entered with much hope that we could mend the damages wrought on this nation under Obama with the help of a new Congress. Friends, that mindset was and simply is a pipedream. For you see, those who are elected to high office in Washington eventually all share the same dream: an expansive federal government fraught with power and control over the people and every aspect of their lives. History just might record that 2015 was the year in which “1984” began in the U.S.A.—Happy New Year!
