I heard a news report just this week which stated that the University of Buffalo had paid Hillary Clinton a whopping $275,000 to come and speak to the student body. I don’t know about you, but I find that figure appallingly absurd. I find it even more absurd that the administration could rationalize paying such an exorbitant amount for a speaker—regardless of who it might be. You can bet the exorbitant fee is no problem at all for Ms. Clinton. She laps up that money like a thirsty dog at a water bowl and smiles all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, I sure would like to see someone measure the educational value of her speech based on its price.
Apparently this is Ms. Clinton’s standard fee, along with other contractual considerations that include having the final decision of the setting and stage arrangement, a teleprompter, and who knows what other little luxuries go along with the bag of loot. Something tells me that she also gets her expenses covered on top of the speaking fee. Is it any wonder that today’s university students are paying through the nose to gain their degrees? Where does the average school come up with an extra quarter of a million or so just for one speaker? I doubt that you will see very many businesses in the private sector opting to pay Ms. Clinton such a fee just for the sake of their employees hearing what she has to say. Any that do engage Mrs. Clinton as a speaker are likely in it simply to launder money into her coffers in the hope that she will once again run for office. But at a university, there is no concern for the bottom line. Educators, just like politicians, simply raise the price of admission when they spend all the money and want more.
I am quite sure that Ms. Clinton is very comfortable pursuing the “college-mind” circuit—most progressives are focused on that sector like a laser beam on a bank vault door. They know the schools are filled with young minds that exhibit little resistance to utopian ideas, and once they swallow that bait, the liberal Left will have them eating out of their hand for many voting cycles to come. You see, the resistance which is encountered in attempting to “socialize” this nation does not come at the university level—not from the professors or the students. Such resistance in our nation today comes from those adults who have enough common sense and life experience to learn the facts and to recognize a Marxist plan when they see one. Those generations are lost to the progressive movement and the Left knows it. Accordingly, the focus moves to the young, uninformed minds where socialist ideas can be planted and sustained before any real experiential data has been gathered . It is a paradise of sorts for Hillary Clinton—a place where she can go and pretend to be an intellect and get paid handsomely for it.
Ms. Clinton could regale the young minds with tales of wonder retelling the story of how she just happened to make a hundred grand buying cattle futures while she was down in Arkansas posing as the Governor’s wife. Of course, she won’t go into any detail as she probably does not know enough about cattle futures to string two sentences together. No, she will quickly move on to how she and Bill became aware of the plight of the little people while they were down there in Arkansas. That, she will tell them, is when they decided to chuck their ambitions for power and money and pursue a path of public-service instead. Remember, it was Hillary who advised us that it takes a village to raise a child and the federal government should certainly be the entity to create and sustain that village. It only makes sense that she would be involved at the highest level in directing those efforts because she understands human nature and enjoys copious amounts of compassion which allows her to deal empathetically with the larger issues of the day. First it was Bill doing the heavy-lifting with Hillary providing wise counsel from the shadows, but now it is her time to step into the limelight and show America and the world what she has to offer. And you can bet that whatever it is she has to offer will never become clear to anyone with an active mind.
Ms. Clinton will speak of her days as a Senator from New York—a difficult time during which she and Bill didn’t have two dimes to rub together. Why, they were just like us, the little people! And, much like Juan and Eva Perón, even though they were “flat broke,” they decided to purchase a $5 million home to uphold their image for their “descamisados,” the little people. She and Bill were not going to let them down! This dog and pony show will reach a crescendo when Ms. Clinton fondly recalls her struggles for the women of America and speaks about her current efforts to become President on their behalf. It is the only choice she has to stop this hideous war on women conducted by the conservative Neanderthals. She will probably also speak of her high hopes for America and how humbly proud she was to step aside and let an unknown black liberal from Chicago take up the gauntlet and accept the nomination. As much as she wanted to serve, she knew in her heart that Barack Hussein Obama was what was best for America in 2008. She will then drone on and discuss how delighted she was to serve as Secretary of State for Obama and lead the transformation of international relations around the world. With that she will bid them adieu, step behind the curtain and hold out her hand for her $275,000 fee, smiling all the while.
Mrs. Clinton’s narrative will undoubtedly leave out the inconvenient parts: her unethical behavior as an attorney during the Watergate proceedings; her memory lapse concerning the Rose Law Firm billing records as they pertain to the White Water scandal; a non-existent list of her accomplishments as Secretary of State , and any details she might remember regarding the tragedy at Benghazi which took place on her watch. Luckily for Mrs. Clinton, this omitted stuff will not concern these young people because they were not yet born when much of it took place. For all practical purposes, and from Hillary’s perspective, it never happened.
America is in deep trouble because progressives have for decades attempted to rewrite history and paint this nation in a bad light. Ms. Clinton loves to use this evil accounting of our history to justify her existence in the political arena, and it is with that backdrop and the twisted perception of these young minds that she will stuff her pockets with money. At her age, her last shot at the presidency looms and she can taste victory. She longs for power and the opportunity to wield it while she applies the Radical Rules of Saul Alinsky in conjunction with massive federal governmental controls and regulations to further shape America into a socialist utopia—something we cannot allow at any price if we care about our country.
