Although Obama promised one of the smoothest presidential transitions ever, those were only words and, as we have sadly learned in the past, his words mean nothing. Remember these? “ObamaCare won’t add one dime to the deficit,” or “I will allow five days of public comment before I sign any bills,” or “I promise 100% transparency in my administration.” You get the point. Within days of making this promise, Mr. Obama was already publicly ridiculing Donald Trump.
Just before Obama’s staff announced that President Obama had completed executive orders which would prevent any drilling for fossil fuels in the Arctic or on the Atlantic coast of the USA and that the administration was quite sure that Obama’s directive could not be undone. Really? Are you kidding me? Obama is not possessed of super powers. What can be done by executive order by one president can be undone by another using the same executive order process if necessary. Obama directive against drilling is to shore up his support with the tree-huggers and climate freaks so they will tap him to speak or lobby on their behalf. Clearly he is not traveling far from his roots as a “community organizer” and intends to stay in the public eye for decades to come.
Obama has also stirred up a hornet’s nest in the foreign relations arena by publicly accusing the Russians of interfering with the U.S. presidential election. Of course, he has not presented any evidence of this and might simply be trying to save face—remember, he put his legacy on the line by presenting Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy as a referendum on his presidency, and she took a thumping. The American people resoundingly said NO MORE. On the other hand, accusing the Russians of influencing the election serves to undermine the legitimacy of Trump’s win. It doesn’t matter that Mrs. Clinton lost because she was a terrible candidate with no platform other than it was “owed to her” or “her time.”
In September, President Obama made his final address to the United Nations General Assembly. During his remarks he called for America to give up some of its ability to act unilaterally and to "bind itself” to “international norms” and “multilateral institutions”—one assumes he means we should yoke ourselves to the bidding of the UN. In essence, Obama once again voiced his aspiration for “one world” governance—a world filled with poverty and governed by a handful of elites who control the assets, wealth, and resources and the access to them. Of course, he sees himself as part of this elite group—count on it. But now that Mrs. Clinton won’t be moving the country in that direction, I wonder what he’ll do.
The Pentagon just announced that it will not heed President-elect Trump’s call to halt the release of terrorists taking place at GITMO. They say they can only serve one president at a time and must serve the sitting president. This is certainly a viable excuse on the part of the Pentagon, and a very convenient one for the Obama Administration. This may be the only campaign promise Obama keeps. . .you know, it's the one from 2008 and it's really important to Mr. Obama to turn these dangerous prisoners loose on the world because we’ve been mean to them. But we needn't worry. Mr. Obama has assured us they won’t come back but become model citizens elsewhere.
The 2016 presidential election demonstrated just how sick the American people are of Barack Obama and those who work with and for him. The American voter rejected Hillary Clinton and her desire to continue on the path of Barack Obama. Instead, they heard the clarion call of Donald Trump telling us that our nation is in trouble and how we needed to change and change quickly if we are to save it. In just ten days, hopefully that process can begin, but it will not go into full motion until President Donald J. Trump can untangle the web of trouble that Barack has been and still is weaving in typical “community organizer” fashion.
The American people can be sure that as of January 20, 2017, this nation will have a president who has our best interest at heart—a man who loves his country and wants to see it sustained rather than dismantled and transformed. I do not envy his task for it will be a difficult one as “progressivism” is still very much alive within our federal government. For example, last Tuesday, New York’s Governor Cuomo announced a proposal to offer free tuition at state colleges for any family earning less than $125,000. Clearly, the Democrats are readying themselves for 2020 by running potential candidate Andrew Cuomo up the flagpole. The beat goes on. . .and Mr. Trump has a lot of work to do to undo the damage inflicted by Mr. Obama and to reverse a culture of entitlement.
