Was this a stupid, stupid thing to do by this SAE Chapter? No doubt, and it reflects badly on the fraternity both locally and nationally that not just one of their membership but an entire group engaged in behavior demonstrating a total lack of judgment and respect. In short order, SAE’s national headquarters closed the chapter, and its members were ordered to leave the frat house by the University of Oklahoma. Moreover, they were not offered alternative housing on campus, with President Boren saying, “We don’t provide student services to bigots.” Quite a bit of justice was meted out in short order and literally no one is defending the actions of the fraternity members—nor should they.
Will this be enough for the mainstream media? Absolutely not! No, the media will follow this story through every dark tunnel and to the ends of the earth attempting to dig up anything which furthers the racial divide. In the coming weeks, America will be inundated with more discoveries that bear out just how racist America continues to be. Eric Holder may be too close to the end of his tenure as Attorney General to jump right into the middle of this and declare that justice will be served via the federal government. However, his replacement, Loretta Lynch—self avowed Eric Holder II— might just be all over this incident right out of the starting blocks.
Over the next few weeks, we will hear a litany of news stories and analysis regarding how the stupidity of a busload of fraternity boys exposed to the world America’s hidden racist inclinations. As usual, the Reverend Al Sharpton will find a way to insinuate himself into this fiasco and ride to the rescue of “his people,” once he figures out what’s in it for him. Be patient, America!
Meanwhile, the media will let the story of Hillary Clinton and her use of personal email for government business purposes fall to the wayside. As I write this, Ms. Clinton has already addressed the issue and, in her usual perfunctory fashion, told us that in retrospect, it wasn’t a good idea but no laws were broken. Yes, she may have gotten a bit overzealous with the convenience and privacy of her personal email, but she’s not releasing her server to any investigational committee. The media will accept this bit of ballsiness and make this episode go away—just like Benghazi—clearing the way for Ms. Clinton to hurry up and throw her hat into the presidential ring for 2016.
Come on, Mr. Rattler, how is it you are trying to conflate Hillary Clinton’s use of personal email with the frat boys singing a racist ditty? Well, you got me. There really is no correlation. The point here is not to attempt to connect the two stories but use them to illustrate how the media will take a racist incident and dig into it with limitless abandon yet simply shrug at a story involving Ms. Clinton, even though her actions could have imperiled our national security. You see, one story advances the liberal narrative (which the media is heavily invested in) and the other they think damages it. Therefore, they will stoke the flames on any story about race, and tamp down any story showing a liberal stalwart in less than favorable light.
Finally, let me leave you with this thought. Recently, the students at the University of California-Irvine Campus voted to stop flying the American flag on the campus. One could surmise this is yet another “stupid act” on the part of a group of college students—as well as an act that totally offends most Americans. Where was the media? The story and its follow-up were barely covered and the reason for that is simple. There was no salacious racial component and the media wouldn’t necessarily discourage students taking an anti-American stance. From this we can conclude two things: One, we live in a world which is made up of many different races of people and some of those people are apparently stupid. Thus, as long as time goes on, we will likely experience some form of behavior which will be racist or construed as such. Two, as long as Hillary Clinton is around in any capacity, we can expect her to color outside the lines and demand to be “forgiven” for it—something the liberal media will push to get done. The media wants to pick the issue and prioritize it by either maximizing or minimizing the amount of coverage it gets. In turn, the media assumes that you will assign those items receiving broader coverage to be of higher priority and importance. But here’s the rub: It is one thing if you make that determination, but it is quite another if the media makes it for you.
