Just this past week, Ms. Pelosi spouted off once again at a Los Angeles-area gathering of Democrats. This time she said that one of her close Republican friends told her that the GOP is not interested in the hungry children of America and that those mired in poverty are invisible to the Republican Party. Ms. Pelosi did not mention the name of that friend, and for good reason, as the person is likely either an imaginary one, or the mere mention of his name might bring into question the person’s conservative credentials. Either way, such a claim without citing a specific source is nothing less than a cheap, political shot on Pelosi’s part.
Pelosi is simply engaging in the age old game of accusing the other side of a negative which begs for proof otherwise. It is just another way of asking, “Are you still beating your wife?” Conversely, where is there any real proof that Pelosi really cares about any of these people of whom she speaks? Has she loaded up one of her credit cards buying food for poor and downtrodden? I seriously doubt that she has, as Ms. Pelosi much prefers to spend the taxpayers’ dollars on such ideas rather than her own. She cares so much that she is more than willing to spend money that the nation does not have and continue spending it no matter how much debt piles up in the process. This is how the Left buys votes—with taxpayer dollars. She does not care how you want your tax dollars spent, for she considers herself far more intelligent and far more caring for those in need than you could ever be.
America has food banks all over this nation that are the recipients of much generosity on the part of all Americans over the course of each year. These organizations supply tons of food to the needy each and every year. Most churches are more than willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, but elect to feed and clothe them rather than just hand them money. Pelosi chooses to be blind to those efforts, and does not acknowledge their existence or even mention them as an alternative to hunger. Instead, her only solution is to pass out taxpayer dollars on debit cards which are abused to no end and openly used by those who are happily disposed to spend their other income on tattoos, alcohol, or a plethora of drugs. For Ms. Pelosi, those debit cards send the message “Here’s some money for you from your friends in the Democrat Party.” For all the money that she and others like her have handed out in this haphazard fashion, what do we have to show for it in terms of a solution to poverty and hunger? Certainly not any less people in that situation. The effort has produced no measurable progress which she can report, unless one chooses to measure it in terms of the ever-increasing dollars spent on it.
During the 1960’s with his “Great Society” program, President Lyndon Johnson launched a federal government effort to fight poverty and hunger and improve access to education. Some 50 years later, the American taxpayers have spent over 15 trillion dollars on that effort, and the only measurable thing to show for it is more poverty, more hunger, and more waste. Still, Ms. Pelosi keeps on beating the drum to continue down that same path with our hearts full of compassion and our wallets wide open. Her answer to achieving progress is to keep doing the same stupid thing over and over. And we know what Einstein said about that. Her folly is that she actually expects the outcome to change.
Back in 2009 during the Stimulus Package debate, Pelosi remarked, “Every week that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.” Wow! Based on that statement, I wonder if Pelosi agrees with fellow Democrat Shelia Jackson Lee that the Constitution is a 400 year- old document. Ms. Pelosi must be under the impression that we have more people here than in China. Based on Pelosi’s math, the entire population could be out of work in less than a two-month period.
Then there was the statement regarding unemployment insurance which really revealed her lack of economic awareness. In one fell swoop, she declared that unemployment insurance “is one of the biggest stimuluses to our economy,” “injects demand into the economy,” and “creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative.” Honestly, should this woman be in a position to spend taxpayer dollars without some heavy supervision? Even when it was apparent that over sixty percent of Americans wanted the ObamaCare initiative scrapped, her battle cry was, “You go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole-vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in.” Does this sound like someone who gives a tinker’s damn about what the majority of the voters in America are saying? This is not a woman—or better yet, an elected official —who pays any attention to the will of the people, yet she tosses her “compassion” about freely hoping to get re-elected so that she can continue her support of progressive socialist efforts.
Pelosi’s golden moment for making stupid comments had to be her reference to the passage of the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a., ObamaCare) when she spouted, “We have to pass the (healthcare) bill so that you can find out what is in it,” a comment, by the way, she still stands by. That moment certainly has come, and now that we have indeed seen what is in it, the great majority of Americans do not like it and want it to be history. But, Ms. Pelosi is convinced that you are all not only brainwashed but tragically stupid when it comes to ObamaCare—thus, there is absolutely no need to pay any attention to what you want or do not want. She—and she alone--is the compassionate one who can see all the wonderful benefits of this train-wreck legislation that in all likelihood will break the USA’s financial back in short order. In her mind, you do want it—you just don’t know that you want it!
Nancy Pelosi is the poster child for the “Naïve Left,” who are blind to the traits and the desires of those who are taking our nation down a path of progressive socialism. She is totally immersed in “oohing and ahhhhing” over all the compassionate efforts of her party, and selectively blind to the damage which is being done to the nation, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law. She turns a blind eye to fiscal responsibility and individual accountability, choosing instead to spout some rhetoric signaling her compassion for the little people. From her lofty perch, every soul she looks down on is part of the little people of this country. In her mind, you see, she is royalty and we are but beggars on the street diving for the morsels she tosses out the palace windows.
I can only hope that one day soon the American voters wake up and run Reid, Pelosi, and the other “open checkbook” crowd out of our capitol and back into their rat-holes where they belong. In the meantime, you can listen to her create some new off-the-wall quotes as she moves to support amnesty of illegal aliens in an effort to dilute the voter base of this nation for decades to come. Pelosi’s political survival is based on creating the poor and impoverished people she professes to care about, and when the count thins, creating more any way that she can.
