And so, for the moment, Mr. Trump has signaled that he is willing to put off requesting funding of the wall until the next cycle in September. The Democrats still have one more issue to be addressed before President Trump can garner the handful of Democrat votes necessary to hit the threshold of 60 votes in the Senate: According to the Associated Press, the budget must “fund cost-sharing payments to insurance companies that help low-income people afford health policies under Obama's health law, or that Trump back off a threat to use the payments as a bargaining chip.” You might say that this is the “anchor baby” that Democrats are counting on to keep ObamaCare from totally being struck from the books.
But back to the wall. Obviously, the Left does not want it or the message it sends. They much preferred Barack Obama’s long-time invitation to “come on in, the water’s fine!” which led to illegals entering our population and then simply blending in without citizenship. When sanctuary cities and states offered these illegals benefits and identification, this allowed them to enter the polling booths and cast their illegal votes—the only effective way the Left has to broaden its voter base today.
Recently, Judge William H. Orrick, who sits on the U.S. District Court, ruled that the Trump administration cannot block federal funding to sanctuary cities if they refuse to enforce current immigration laws. Judge Orrick ruled that the order could not be carried out because it will do “harm.” He further indicated that compliance with federal law was never a requirement for receiving funds from the federal government. Really—are we insane? Since when does a federal judge obstruct the judicial process by citing harm to people who are here illegally in the first place, thereby essentially giving the nod to those sanctuary cities to continue their disregard of the law? To set such legal precedence is to condone tyranny and chaos. Of course, Judge Orrick is another Obama-appointee, so why shouldn’t we expect such shenanigans?
On April 26th, I happened to watch an interview with Roberto Hernandez, a protester-activist based in California, on the Tucker Carlson Show. Mr. Hernandez attempted to make the case for illegal immigrants by citing their importance to California agriculture. He argued, “Who is going to pick the crops if they suddenly decide to deport all the immigrants that work in the fields in California?” He also maintained that illegal immigrants have a right to influence U.S. government policies simply because they are here and—in his words—the hardest working people on the planet. In a follow-up question, Mr. Carlson asked what government in the world would allow illegal immigrants to enter their country and protest their government. Of course, Mr. Hernandez did not have an answer to that, instead saying we are all immigrants living on American Indian land.
It is pathetic that we live in a time during which our recently departed president refused to uphold our existing immigration laws and used the powers of the federal government to keep border states from doing so. Now we are stuck with the damage done and those who hold a minority position in our federal government want to dictate how we are going to deal with it. It is time for the American people to say, “We have had enough of this!” It is time to write your Senators and Representatives and clearly let them know that your will and desires are not being met. After all, these people work for us—not the other way around.
The day Barack Obama left the Oval Office many Americans felt our safety and security as a nation would improve. After all, we voted in a man who believed in the greatness of America, and it would be an improvement if Obama were indeed gone, but he is not. Those loyal to him are deeply embedded within the federal government at the administrative, regulatory, and judicial levels—and they intend to obstruct and thwart President Trump’s agenda every step of the way. The Democrats want to do one thing and that is burn up the time on the clock before Trump and company can take action and erase the scars of Barack Obama and his ilk.
The border wall is symbolic. It sends the message that the vast majority of Americans want to send: If you want to come to this country, then you must do it legally. Crossing the border with the intent to stay is breaking the law; it does not confer automatic citizenship on you. We welcome those who want to be citizens of this country, those who want to assimilate into the American culture rather than import their own. If your particular culture is that important to you, then it is best for all involved that you stay where you are.
